Bullied By Horace Mann
on August 12, 2011 at 10:10 pmBullies. Schoolyard bullies. With all the muscle and street-smarts.
This is how I would describe the agents at Horace Mann Insurance Company. From the first moment on the phone reporting an accident (that was not my fault), Horace Mann’s employees bullied me with a sarcastic remark, “since, huh, your neck hurts…”.
One evening their investigator followed me up the stairs to my apartment, and as soon as I closed my door he began knocking for 15 minutes. When I looked out the peek-hole, the “investigator” had a sneer on his face, and actually had his nose scrunched up in disgust- this guy was ready for a personal intimidation session. I had already answered their questions repeatedly, which is why I refused to answer the door.
They used this event to deny my claim, stating that I was being “uncooperative”. Their motive was clear enough to me, denial of payment. They had several agents working my simple case, all with the clear goal of being unavailable when I had a need. These people were in my face asking the same questions over and over while I was recovering from the accident.
this is a claim of upwards of $3,000 they are denying because of their behavior. Which, they claim is mine; how convenient.
