I was in a car wreck at the beginning of November. The other driver was insured by Erie, and I am insured by Progressive. My vehicle has approximately $3500 worth of damage, after the Erie driver drove directly into the back right side of my vehicle. I had just established myself in the left hand lane of a two lane road after clearing an intersection and bam…I heard the metal crunching on my car. As I was accelerating forward, I continued to move forward and then came to a stop.

The damages extend from the right passengers back door to the bumper on the car. Erie Insurance claims their customer is not at fault, as his statement to them (which he conveniently thougth about for a week before giving) is that I changed lanes and hit his vehicle after he became established in the right hand lane. The front bumper on his car is damaged and about six – eight inches beyond that are scratches where he continued turning into my car. I have 3 1/2 feet plus of damages on the right side of my vehicle, along with a huge dent in my door where his car hit mine.

Erie is stating that their adjusters are agreeing with their customer’s statement of me being at fault. I don’t know how any educated person could look at the two vehicles and state that I am responsible, when it its obvious that he hit me. I drive a fairly new Nissan Altima (my first car that I’ve ever purchased), and I’m furious with Erie Insurance, as they have denied my claim and now I have to use my own insurance to cover the damages.

Erie is a sorry excuse for an “insurance” company. Their investigation into the accident was nothing more than them backing the LIE of their driver. They denied my claim only after taking both of our statements and reviewing the adjuster’s claim of only his vehicle. They received the report on my vehicle 2 HOURS AFTER THEY DENIED MY CLAIM. It disgusts me that this company is allowed to stay in business.
