Manulife Refusing to Cover Son’s Dental Surgery
on August 17, 2011 at 2:08 pmManulife Insurance is refusing to pay for my little boy’s dental surgery, claiming it is due to milk bottle decay. They are refusing even though a quote was sent in by the dentist, and an exception request was sent in me a month before the surgery.
First, it took them 31/2 wks to even tell me that a form was needed to be filed by the dentist and me. When I asked for a managers name, they said they could not give it to me. I just received a letter and an email saying that they will not pay for the dental surgery, and gave the excuse that there was a benefit year maximum placed by my company. Therefore they are saying that they cannot pay more than the yearly benefit maximum.
I had asked if I should have told the dentist to just do surgery for this year’s ‘benefit maximum’ and rebook my boy in for another surgery for next year, and the following year as well. Manulife has not responded to my question, and I refuse to fork out any extras that I have to pay.
Since my boy was born, I’ve never claimed a single cent from Manulife Insurance. But Manulife Insurance has collected premiums from me for the last 5+yrs, high premiums, and now they are refusing to pay when obviously this is an exceptional case. They’re no better than robbers except that they have a licence to rob us poor working class people.
Do not buy insurance from Manulife. If they can treat a child’s case so harshly, I can only imagine how they’ll handle an adults. None of my colleagues have anything good to say about Manulife, and I work for a fairly large corporation. You will have a hard time requesting for payments, they will pass you around like a ball, and their staff does not know what they are doing (I spoke with at least 5 different agents). EXTREMELY poor customer service, take your business elsewhere!
